The legends are true: Mortal Kombat is seeing some huge changes. Midway has unveiled Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe for the Xbox 360, a re-imagining of the classic brawler. As you might have guessed, DC Comics is lending a few well-known faces, including Superman and Batman, as playable fighters (there are 18 confirmed characters). The big news is that MK vs. DC is not expected to feature the gory Fatalities that the series is known for, and spurting blood will be kept to a minimum. That means you probably won't be chopping off Superman's head or ripping Batman limb-from-limb, unfortunately. Also available in a Kollector's Edition for $69.99.

Excellent Addition

OK, I haven't written a review in a while, but I really want to weigh in here. If you love Mortal Kombat, have the previous games and are considering getting this for the love of the title, than this is a must own for you.

I like how this version does not have the various options of previous versions, which made the game somewhat awkward in its limitless combo options. The moves are straight forwards, the graphics are tight, and the gameplay is fun. The story is cool, not in its narrative, but rather gives you a nice feel of each character. I would recommend playing in story mode if you want to get a good base for every character.

The online play is cool as well. I am very pleasantly surprised. Great job Midway.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe - Xbox 360

Pros Cons
Amazing visuals Poor storytelling
Weak story line.....

If it had a story that made even the slightest since the game would be alot more fun to play..... but once u beat one side....why even play the other...??? To get a player that your cant even do any fatalities with?

The Universe is big enough for two worlds!

At first, just thinking about a Mortal Kombat game with comic book characters in it seems a little wierd. But it really works out quite well. The most known Mortal Kombat characters are here (no Johnny Cage), pitting them up with Superman, Batman, and a few more DC characters. The game itself prety much has a 2D fighting but you can hold the left trigger to make circles and dodge various enemy attacks, which makes it seem almost like a 3D fighter. While the simple attacks are ok, and the elaborate ones look great, there really arent a lot of different special moves for any one character. Anyone you choose from has anywhere from 4 to 12 special moves, and they are all very simple to learn (Press pause to view each characters moves and special moves). Although there arent many specials in the game, its still a fun fighting game. Dont get it confused with one like Soul Caliber, which is more a technical fighter thanm this one. MK vs DC is just simple fun. The graphics are great, the controls are easy, and its just plain fun. I dont think its worth $60, so you might want to wait for it to come down or rent it first. Like I said, it's not very deep at all, just fun.

just not very good.

first off the graphics are next gen so they're gonna be good, but in comparison to other games including other fighters they really don't offer much. although they do have that 'mortal Kombat live action look' that we've all come to know and love. the story mode is just plain dumb- often leaving you fighting repeatedly on the same map several times in a row. i like the combo of dc and mk- it's totally awesome, but that's all this game really offers. the combat is kinda stale (a mix of mkIII and recent mk games) the gore level is way down along with the fatalities. it really just seems like they took the last few mk games and spliced it with dc and mkIII. they added some new features to the game play which is cool (the in air fighting) and all the levels seem to have multi platforms, but all in all this seems more like a renter. serious fanboys will prob wanna buy but otherwise a weekend will do.
