Still no update on slow Gears of War 2 matchmaking

Two weeks after launching, and some players are having to wait up to 20 minutes to join an online multiplayer match.

Epic Games last week acknowledged the issue, said to be affecting a "small percentage" of players. As of today, however the company still hasn't found a solution, outside of blaming high demand.

"We've had millions of successful matches played online so far," senior producer Rod Fergusson explained. "However a small percentage of players are having issues, which is unacceptable. We're working closely with Microsoft to address the matchmaking issues. I promise you that it is our #1 priority, and we hope to have an update soon."

In the interim, Epic recommends trying a different playlist, playing with more than four friends in private matches, which seems to limit the problem, and ensuring you're router is properly configured to "open" NAT.

"I apologize for any issues you may be having and I hope the above workarounds give you a better experience until we are able to correct the issue," Fergusson added.

I just want to know who in the world would wait 20 MINUTES to get into a match. After about 5, I'd probably just cancel and do something else. That's ridiculous.

I've never had a problem finding a game at all. It doesnt take any longer than WaW. Try direct connect.

I have been saying this for a while... Gears 2 has an awesome campaign, but the online is 2nd rate. That is why I play R2 online, Epic can take some notes from Resistance2 on the online gameplay... R2 online is awesome. I don't even wanna think about Killzone 2's online. But here we go again, it makes you wonder, since online was such a BIG part of Gears1, how can Gears2 have one of the worst online options in recent gaming and STILL hit a perfect 5 star score? As much as I like R2's awesome online gameplay, it only gets a 4.5 from me because the campaign is not as engaging as I would like.

Well Art a lot of people like Gears 2 online. Myself included. I love the strategic element involved with having small 5 on 5 matches. Horde is amazing as well. I prefer it to the clusterfuck that is R2. But hey, to each their own right? I hear Killzones multiplayer is pretty decent too, expect the cover mechanic in the singleplayer doesn't make the cut....don't know why though. Apparently Killzone 2 's multi borrows directly from COD4. But hey if you are going to copy, copy from the best right? Hopefully it feels fresh and not a been there done that feeling. Sony needs this.

It's working fine for me, but we've got to give them time to fix it before judging :P
